Lottery Winner's Six-Month Oversight Ends With €15.3 Million Jackpot Discovery

29-09-2025

A German man from the Rhine-Main region has finally claimed a €15.3 million lottery jackpot after discovering the winning ticket in his transitional jacket six months after the draw. The family father had played the Lotto 6aus49 game on March 29, correctly guessing six numbers plus the super number, but subsequently forgot about the ticket stored in his jacket's inner pocket.

Lotto Hessen had been actively searching for the unknown winner for months, launching poster campaigns in sales outlets and even broadcasting radio appeals in May. The lottery company's managing director, Martin Blach, and his team had desperately sought the major winner, though the eventual recipient heard these radio appeals without realizing he was the person being sought.

The breakthrough came when the man recently found the folded ticket in his jacket pocket while preparing for the weekend. After comparing the numbers using his mobile phone and seeing the winning amount, he was completely shocked, noting that his knees nearly gave way upon discovery. The winner expressed frustration at his oversight, questioning "how stupid can one actually be not to collect this?"

The newly minted millionaire has already made plans for his exact winnings of €15,336,286.40, including purchasing a new living room couch and, more importantly, providing for his children's future with his wife. The couple has sworn not to inform anyone else about their windfall, maintaining their privacy despite the substantial change in their financial circumstances.
